Eligibility for BE/B.Tech/B.Arch. admission through JEE (Main) 2013
It has been noticed that several candidates those who have done polytechnic/ engineering diploma programmes have applied for JEE (Main) 2013 examination.
Indeed, the candidates who have completed their Engineering/Architecture/ Pharmacy Diploma programmes with minimum 45% marks (40% in case of candidates from reserved category) in appropriate branch of Engineering/ Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy are eligible for admission into 2nd year of 4 year Engineering/Pharmacy and 5 years Architecture programmes respectively through “Lateral Entry” scheme.
They need not to write any entrance examination.
The AICTE has also informed that - if a diploma candidate wants to take admission into 1st year of 4 year Engineering/Pharmacy or 5 year Architecture programmes, they can do so only if they have Class 12th certificate. They are eligible only on the basis of Class 12th certificate. Those who do not have Class 12th Certificate are not eligible for admission through this route.
Therefore, the polytechnic/engineering diploma candidates those who has passed Class 12th also from a Board between year 2011 to 2013, they shall immediately update their Class 12th information on the JEE website http://jeemain.nic.in through link “Confirmation of class 12th/Qualifying Examination Details” by selecting Board, Year of passing and Roll No., failing which it will be assumed that he/she is only diploma holders and will not be treated eligible for admission to B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch./B.Planning as per above guidelines of AICTE.
